Letters in an open mailbox isolated on white backgroundDo you currently use a printer to manufacture your direct mail pieces but are labeling and mailing them yourself? Besides these two things, we have so much to offer you. Continue reading below!

Are you aware of the various regulations of the United States Postal Service? There are minimum and maximum dimensions, weights, and such of which you may not be aware. Just one mistake can mean the return of your mailers, meaning increased time to recipient as well as increased cost to fix the mistakes. When you call on Allied, we’re able to guide you and develop mail pieces that are well within postal specification, helping you save time and money. Beyond knowing these rules and regulations, we can advise you of changes in postal pricing. We know which dimensions, thickness and weight can help save you money while ensuring your message is delivered exactly the way you want it. One simple or slight change may result in a significant price reduction. Below are just a few of the specifications USPS has in place to qualify for postcard, letter and large envelope pricing (visit USPS.com for more information):

• For postcards, it must be
o Rectangular
o At least 3-1/2 inches high x 5 inches long x 0.007 inch thick
o No more than 4-1/4 inches high x 6 inches long x 0.016 inches thick

• For Letters, it must be
o Rectangular
o At least 3-1/2 inches high x 5 inches long x 0.007 inch thick.
o No more than 6-1/8 inches high x 11-1/2 inches long x 1/4 inch thick.

• For large envelopes, flats must:
o Have one dimension that is greater than 6-1/8 inches high OR 11-½ inches long OR ¼ inch thick.
o Be no more than 12 inches high x 15 inches long x ¾ inch thick.

Beyond rules and regulations, money can be saved on postage and labor. Why pay extra for postage when a partner like Allied can offer postage discounts by presorting your mail. If you’re addressing envelopes yourself, additional labor time (and frustration) can be almost inevitable.

So, without Allied you run the risk of errors, higher postage rates and an increase of time to recipient. The question is simple, why wouldn’t you call us?! Please click here to contact us at Allied so that we can save you time and money!
